A peregrination representation that will delight both those who have been there for years and those who are witnessing the unique magic of the living Via Crucis for the first time. The Via Crucis is one of the most important traditions held during the Easter period in Castelletto di Brenzone.
The event takes place on Good Friday, on a route that starts from the Church of San Carlo Borromeo in Castelletto (8.30 p.m.) and winds along the small streets and alleys that lead from the historic center of the town to Biaza and its castle and the Venetian prisons. It is a path that lends itself well to the Stations of the Cross. The Passion of the Christ, one of the most popular events around Lake Garda, is recreated with 14 stations, and this with over 100 extras who are skillfully coordinated and take part in a true stage spectacle.
During the lively Via Crucis it is possible to discover the ancestral crafts linked to the hard work of man, common in the past in the villages of the lake and now almost disappeared. There is also no shortage of Roman soldiers along the route, which helps to immerse you even more in the era.
There is a lot of work behind the organization of the event. The event welcomes more than a thousand people, candles will be distributed along the route to make the atmosphere even more evocative, find the extras, create the costumes, distribute loudspeakers with the relative technical audio systems. The event, which has been repeated every year since 1972, attracts many tourists, including those from outside the province and from abroad, due to its uniqueness.
The evocative corners of the path with costumed figures lit by braziers and torches and the musical accompaniment of religious choirs create a unique atmosphere of deep reflection that never ceases to amaze the participants.
