The ascent begins at Castello di Brenzone sul Garda (140 meters a.s.l.), at the entrance to the town. Uphill road towards Zignago/Prada with 20 hairpin bends over a narrow tarmac road cut between green bushes and low trees and with the blue lake as a backdrop. This particularly strenuous ascent is a real challenge for every biker. The average gradient of 12.7% with a central section of 4 km at 16.5% and sections with over 20% make this one of the toughest international pro climbs. The finish is at an altitude of 1156 meters above sea level.

The return is recommended via the hamlet of San Zeno, going down towards the hamlet of Prada along the road to the lake to Castelletto di Brenzone. This descent is very pleasant and offers beautiful views of Lake Garda.

On April 19, 2012, the ascent of Punta Veleno entered as the third stage of the “Giro del Trentino” cycle race in the great Italian professional circuit, resulting in a challenge of the same level of difficulty (and even more for some) with the more famous cycle race “Zoncolan ". Every year the Municipality of Brenzone sul Garda, together with the U.S. Montebaldo Sports Cooperative, organizes the "Extremerace Punta Veleno" cycling race.
